BMSC is Committed to Coders
The Board of Medical Specialty Coding (BMSC) is an organization
of coders, clinicians and compliance professionals dedicated
to the evaluation, recognition and career advancement
of professional medical coders within physician practice,
facility and post-acute settings.
BMSC’s mission is to provide specialty certification,
networking and continuing education opportunities to professional
medical coders. The Board provides professional coders opportunities
for professional recognition and practice improvement with
skills-based certification exams created by coders, for
coders.
The pre-conference and
the main conference have the prior approval of
the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) for 15.5 continuing
education hours. Granting of prior approval in no way constitutes
endorsement by AAPC of the program content or the program sponsor.
The Board of Medical Specialty Coding (BMSC) is bringing its
specialty certifications exams – the Specialty Coding Professional
(SCP) and Advanced Coding Specialist (ACS) – directly to
you at the 8th Annual Billing and Coding Pain Management
conference.
BMSC’s two specialty exams are creating a career ladder for specialty coders. The SCP certification is aimed at coders who have about two years experience in your specialty. SCP coders aspire to gain more experience and progress to future coding veterans. An ACS coder usually has three or more years of specialty coding experience and use their skills to garner the maximum reimbursement for their employers.
Some of this program’s presenter – Marvel Hammer, Joanne Mehmert and Samantha Mullins – are already ACS-PM certified. They know the value of working in physician and hospital settings and being the expert coder on staff. They will walk you through the tricky pain management coding guidelines, which will help prepare you for the SCP or ACS exams. Using the information you receive at Billing and Coding Pain Management and your own coding expertise, you should be ready to “show your stuff” and take a specialty coding exam!
Both the SCP and ACS exams in pain management will be offered after the conference adjourns.
