Batty is an independent coding expert in the world of home health. She previously worked for DecisionHealth for 10 years as a graduate fellow, editor and junior product manager. She has covered multiple aspects of home health care for Home Health Line, OASIS & Outcomes Solutions and Private Duty Insider, but spent the majority of her time writing about home health diagnosis coding as the executive editor of Diagnosis Coding Pro for Home Health. She’s worked on many of DecisionHealth’s industry-leading coding products, including the Complete Home Health Coding Manual, the Coding & OASIS Field Guide, the Home Health Coding Companion and Documentation Trainer, and she was the developer of the Wound Coding & OASIS Field Guide.
Griffin offers home health consulting on many topics including quality assurance and performance improvement, program development, coding and OASIS review, staff education and plan of care compilation. Griffin has experience as a field nurse, director and executive with home health and hospice agencies.
Hansell has been a physical therapist in the home health setting since October 1998, holding positions of field therapist, rehab manager, and quality/compliance assurance. As owner of Therapy and More, LLC, she assists agencies in achieving therapy documentation and practice excellence in order to better position themselves against auditors. Consulting services further consist of OASIS auditing and coding practice. She has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1995, where she recently served as the Vice President of the Home Health Section.
Kornetti, a physical therapist for 30 years, is a past administrator and co-owner of a Medicare-certified home health agency. Dee now provides training and education to home health providers through a consulting business, Kornetti & Krafft Health Care Solutions, with her business partners Cindy Krafft and Sherry Teague, where she serves as its Chief Operations Officer. Dee is nationally recognized as a speaker in the areas of home care, standardized tests and measures in the field of physical therapy, therapy training and staff development, including OASIS, coding, and documentation, in the home health arena. Dee is the current President of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Home Health Section and serves on the APTA’s national Post-Acute Work Group. She serves as the President of the Association of Homecare Coding and Compliance, and a member of the Association of Home Care Coders Advisory Board and Panel of Experts. She has served as a content expert for standard setting for Decision Health’s Board of Medical Specialty Coding (BSMC) home care coding (HCS-D) and OASIS (HCS-O) credentialed exams.
Leon-Chisen is responsible for leading the AHA Central Office on ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS and Central Office on HCPCS. The AHA Central Office, in cooperation with the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), serves as the authoritative source on ICD-9-CM relative to health care payment systems, statistical reporting, and health services research. She represents the AHA as one of the four ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM/PCS Cooperating Parties responsible for the development of the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting. She is also the editor of AHA Coding Clinic® for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS and AHA Coding Clinic® for HCPCS, and author of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding Handbook. She has over 35 years of experience in the health information management field including consulting, teaching, technical and management experience in hospital medical record departments.
Parson brings more than 25 years of health care experience to her role as vice president of education and control standards with Quality in Real Time (QIRT) in Floral Park, N.Y. Earning her RN license in 1994, Sherri started her career providing direct care first in hospital settings, including medical surgical, ICU and interventional radiology before transitioning to home health. She has been an in-home provider of skilled-nursing services, as well as developing expertise in quality assurance, diagnosis coding, OASIS review and regulatory compliance. She further developed her home health expertise as a therapy manager and staff education and development expert. At QIRT, Sherri is responsible for hiring, training and monitoring coding and OASIS review staff and managers, as well as establishing the metrics for key performance indicators to ensure continuous staff improvement in coding and OASIS accuracy.
Twombly brings over 30 years of home care experience to her role as the owner of Twombly and Associates LLC, a home health and hospice coding and consulting company. Trish has served as Advising Editor for the Home Health Diagnosis Coding Manual, Technical Reviewer for the Diagnosis Coding Pro Journal, and Technical Editor for the BMSC on-line course libraries. She is the former CEO of the Board of Medical Specialty Coding and Compliance. Tricia continues to write numerous articles and white papers and is a nationally recognized speaker in the home health and hospice industry.
